2016: Cautiously Optimistic ~ 27 Nov 2015

With about a month to go before the Gregorian Calendar rolls over to a new year, and with all the goings on in the world and the craziness of holiday sale fever, a glance ahead at 2016 seems to be in order.

Several patterns stand out (and there are multitudes of patterns we’ll discuss as we go) that offer hope for the new year, encouragement for our aspirations, and possibility for the evolution of consciousness on the planet. I, for one, am cautiously optimistic. Of course, with Saturn in Sagittarius, transparency and clarity of what is meant goes a long way. To wit, I’m more than optimistic about 2016.

And here’s why:

Saturn is in Sagittarius the entirely of the year. Saturn is caution; Sagittarius is optimism.

During the year Eris and Haumea oppose, stimulating development of personal creativity and spiritual realization, permitting a greater inner sense of fitting in with the world.

Throughout the year Uranus and Eris align. This pattern inspires innovation, progressive development of concepts ranging from social to scientific to spiritual, and if applied by focused, involved individuals devoted to promoting individuality and the inclusion of all people, there can be huge progress made in global tranquility.

Leaning less lofty and toward “what does this mean to me and “how the hell do I make 2016 better than $&##@%$? 2015,” consider:

Mars in Sagittarius, if there was ever an outward-bound, “let’s get this show on the road” transit, this is it. Yes, Mars does retrograde, and when he does he returns to Scorpio. Insert unnecessary shivers of apprehension here.

Unnecessary because Mars co-rules Scorpio as he does Aries, and there is a feeling of naturalness for Mars in either of his homes. When Mars feels natural and safe, his aggressive nature yields to a proactive doing agenda that permits good stuff to get done. And with Mars in Sag, the fire is stoked to its nominal burn. Nominal suggests going Goldilocks with the expenditure of energy and dedication of doing; not too little, not too much, “Ah! Just right!”

Does Mars retrograde suggest that all tracks laid get pulled up and rerouted? No, but it does mean that the edit, retool, improvement of agenda themes are strong. It is not a matter of going too fast and overlooking. It is more an agenda of reaching a point down the road where what lies ahead can be seen, which was previously unknown, and as such was not addressed or included in the master plan. So, when new situations appear, integrate them into the solution-building process and all is well.

All of us get to look forward to Mars aligning with Saturn in Sagittarius on August 24th - a marker of massive progress next year. Mars ensures his spark fuels the woodpile of Sag’s never-ending, always unfolding journey pyre of progress, this year with a modicum of Saturn. Mars and Sagittarius do tend to push the envelope, sometimes tearing into the envelope so fast the check inside gets torn. Saturn offers suggestions as to good form, required protocols, what the “powers that be” can comprehend in the present and where “over the top” lies and the “one straw too many on Gimel’s back” line in the sand lies.

Saturn’s caution and conservatism blend with Mars and Sagittarius to ensure you get maximum bang for the buck, and you go as far as can be gone without going over budget, blowing the deal or exhausting available resources, whether tangible or energetic.

And that’s not all, On March 23rd, Jupiter in Virgo squares Saturn’s Sag position. Virgo knows the rules of the road, the rules of engagement and standard operating procedures. Jupiter goes for it, full bore, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. Jupiter also values learning what is required to present oneself as knowledgeable, expert, extremely competent and conscientious to a fault. Suggest Jupiter in his strongest know-it-all voice, “Know the craft, have experience in place and assert ones skills, talents and objectives with the voice and behavior of a wise soul.” Similar to Mars and Saturn together, this Jupiter-Saturn square functions to keep expansion and contraction in perfect balance.

Perfect balance is interesting. At all times during the square the reality of the perfect combination can be accurately assessed and perceived. Such accurate perception does not mean one does not yearn to push further than Saturn decrees is wise. One must do battle with any sense of non preparation, uncertainly about timing, or emotional unreadiness for what follows. Those perceptions are present and valid. No matter. Saturn demands doing just enough with dedication, diligence and clear commitment, and per Jupiter, with yearning aspiration, no matter what issues the psyche surfaces or what in the real world requires wrestling.

On the 26th of May, Jupiter and Saturn square again (Golly gee, Jupiter, that’s during Norwac!! Link below). Once again, the same parameters of unbridled optimism and real world manifestations march in step to a well-synchronized cosmic cadence.

In 2016's first quarter, second quarter and third quarter, planets engage with Saturn’s Sagittarian agenda with amazing simpatico. The transits noted above are times when things get done by inspired souls with directed agendas, a clear sense of talent and potential contribution to offer, and fueled by the sense that there’s no time like now... in fact, this is now.

Much more will be written in SkyScrapings next year to add details to the hopeful block diagrams of the year ahead. As the solstice approaches and as the holidays seek to restore cheer and good will, grab the transits and do what you can! I just preordered my DVD of The Martian to show my support and optimism for his transits in 2016. Find a way to pledge to participate in the new year... show your optimism, cautious or otherwise!!

More soon.
